The Evolution of the Bowler Hat

What started off in the 1920's as a rounded, felt hat, the bowler has managed to surpass millions of other trends and remain on trend and fashion forward for almost a century.
I personally love bowler hats as do many other fashionista's and style icons out there today.
They definitely don't get the credit they deserve.
Here's a little look at the evolution of the bowler hat...

Fashion Week Bohemes: Part 2

If you haven't seen part 1 scroll down or click here!

Now.. Part 2 of my favourite of the many Bohemian influenced Runway shows this Fashion Week, for Spring 2015.

Emilio Pucci Spring 2015

Let's take a little trip back in time to the seventies, Hippy beading, Fringe, Suede boots, tie dye and the appearance of the ever eye catching tangerine colour.  It just doesn't get any better than this.. does it?

Marchesa Spring 2015

Marchesa never fails to impress me, and their collection was my favourite this year (Along with Dolce & Gabbanna.) This magical, Fairytale like collection was inspired by hippies, gypsy's and grunge, three of my favourite things! Romance was visible in every details from the gold lace embroidery, flower details and tulle. I'm in LOVE! This show definitely proved that Marchesa are still standing out, as they celebrated their tenth year anniversary.

Badgley Mischka Spring 2015

More Romantic, flowy dresses were evident than ever in Badgley Mischka's collection. A show that started with plain white, structured pieces, I'll admit I yawned a little and was about to turn it off before it stunningly transformed into light fabrics and pretty pastel colours floating down the runway.
Inspired by the 60's with the idea of 'Marie Antoinette on the moon!'

Etro Spring 2015

Veronica Etro decided that she wanted her collection to be handmade and imperfect.
Customising, dying, braiding, fringing and embellishing were all there, along with a strong Native American influence. Each garment was heavily accessorised and unique, while the earthy colour palette tied it all together. I want those fringed boots in my life.. ASAP!

Which of the above is your favourite? Like I said before Marchesa really impressed me, I'm also in love with each and every one of Etro's looks!

Fashion Week Boheme's: Part 1

As you can probably imagine, I was in heaven this fashion week.
It's about time Boho trends are hitting the runway, they've always crept up but this year they took over!
Here are some of the shows that stunned me most with their beautifully bohemian pieces this Spring 2015:

Alberta Ferretti

These are the kind of gowns you want to adorn yourself in as you run through an enchanted forrest in your most whimsical of dreams. Light, Mousseline gowns, appliquéd and drapes with a touch of fringe here and there. The colour palette developed beautifully from the peachiest of pinks, to purples and brown suedes. I am in love!

Roberto Cavalli

I always expect to see some Bohemian Influence in Roberto Cavalli's collections, but this year he done it in such a pretty way this year. Beginning the show with some psychedelic, painted patterns on light, flowy fabrics, then some black pieces with mesh cut out panels, the contradiction of the sever black colour against the light airy fabric was perfect. The colour palette also included some gentle lilac and beiges embellished and embroidered.

Custo Barcelona

A nice change from the usual romantic and lengthy dresses, Custo Barcelona is a brand known for it's daring, should I say, Skimpiness? It was a refreshing collection full of intricate details and random splashes of colour. Metallic embroidery, beading and translucency all didn't go amiss in this fabulous collection.

How do you feel about the above looks? Which is your favourite?
Part 2 coming soon...
