After all there's only one more year until Christmas...

I wasn't originally planning on doing a post on my Christmas presents..
but now that I've had a nose through everyone else's I've been awfully tempted...
This has been the best Christmas and the fact that my sister wasn't here (She was partying it up on Bondi Beach Australia) was made up for by the fact that my friends and family absolutely spoiled me!
Yaaaaaaayy!
So the post I done called The Ultimate Guide To Pretending You Like A Bad Present wasn't put to use even once! Lucky me!
So expect some serious bragging ladies...

Mmmm one of the delivery men that works for my dad brought a big box of Lily O'Brien's chocolates... I can safely say I'm on my way to becoming Shamoo...

Jelly beans yumma.. For some reason the good ones seem to be ridiculously expensive so it was great to see these babies in my stocking!

Ohhh yeh! I blogged about mosquito nets in my Bedroom Delights post a while back. My mam had a nose on my blog and decided to pick me up this one in Ikea.. I sleep with it completely closed and can't help feeling like the evil stepmother in Cinderella... muhahaha..

So this year thanks to all of the beauty blogs I follow I've become a Lush Junkie.. and I never shut up about how much I love the stuff, so surprise surprise I got loads of lush goodies from friends and family. Looks like I'm having a bath every day for the next year.. These are Stardust, 12 days of christmas and gingerbread house sets. Expect a lot of reviews in 2012!

Art books, seeing as I'm an art freak and not in college anymore I need to keep my skills up to scratch, the first one is 'Figure poses for fashion Illustration' by Sha Tahmasebi and the second is 'The Human Form' by Giovanni Civardi. I haven't used them yet but I'll review them soon.

A cupcake making set.. Because my mam knows me too well and has seen many failed attempts at baking in the past.

Every time I'm in town with my parents I go to a gallery and stare at this painting! So my amazing folks decided to buy it for me! It was a complete surprise to me and I was so so happy! My first piece of art! Wow! I'll be doing a post about the artist soon!

I never thought I'd see the day when I get excited about an apron.. but I did! Love it!

Bear mittens from my cousin and best friend. I had a similar pair in black but they snuck into the washing machine and got all bally.. so I'll get great use out of these!

Gosh eyeshadow Palette from my aunty.. Haven't used it yet but I can't wait to try it out!

Me and my cousin decided to buy something small for a tenner for each other, but she decided to go a little over the budget and get me this Pauls Boutique studded purse... How mortified was I handing her a pooey little soap set?

The Body shop Candied Ginger Body butter and shower scrub! I'd just run out of my last tub so I was delighted when my mam got me these! I've only used the butter and it's great! Pretty much smells like Christmas!

Coco Chanel and Lilo &Stitch on dvd. I watched the Chanel one today and it was brilliant! I've seen Lilo & Stitch a million times as it's one of my favourite film so it's great to have it for myself on DVD!

I hope you were all spoiled too! What was your favourite present this year?

Issue of the month: Bullying...

It's something that really get's on my friggin nerves..
mainly because most of us have or will experience it weather it be in school/college, online, in the workplace or even at home!
I'll got most of my facts that I got from Parentingbookmark.com..

160 000 children miss school every day in fear of being bullied.
Bullying is actually effecting peoples grades, causing them to skip school and even drop out in some cases! Imagine being so terrified you can't even go to school? A place that's meant to feel safe for everyone can be transformed into a war zone for victims of bullying.

Bullies are usually people with extremely low self esteem who may have experienced abuse in the past. They are people that feel the need to put others down to bring themselves up.
You can be bullied about anything, from the colour of your hair to having good grades, for being overweight or underweight, for your sexual orientation and even for your race.
Surveys have shown that the most common race to be victims of bullying are African/Black people.
This fact comes as no surprise to me as since the recession more people have been bitter and racist and nowadays it seems like you can't even get into a Taxi without hearing a rant about foreign people.

1 in 7 students are bullied.
This statistic is actually scary. That means that an average of four people in my class back in school were probably suffering in silence. Most bully victims prefer to keep it a secret and are unaware how much it would benefit them and their classmates to tell someone weather it be a teacher, parent or even a friend to confide in. It won't stop if people don't know about it.

In the last few years bullying has become popular online through social networking sites.
The worst method I've seen is 'trolls'
People who use fake names and sabotage groups and pages with abusive words.
I happened to stumble upon a horrible case of this a few months ago when a teenage girl died and a page made for her rememberance was high-jacked by trolls writing horrible things, editing nasty words and gestures into her pictures and abusing her family members. Sick. Even those who have passed away can be bullied and hopefully the trolls are caught and face serious consequences for the pain they have caused to the girls family and friends.
I've also seen situations where social networking sites were disallowed from schools and students due to serious cases of bullying.

Bullying can be both Verbal and Physical.
The abuse leads to bullying victims having extremely low self esteem, living in fear and in most cases can effect them physically and phsycologically in the long run.

75% of school shootings have been for revenge on bullies.
A particular case that still haunts us all is the Columbine High School Massacre. On April 20th 1999 two students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, that were said to have never fitted in to any of the 'cliques' in their high school and were picked on by athletes and 'popular kids', walked the hallways of their school armed with guns, knives and bombs killing twelve students, one teacher and themselves.
The boys were normal students from strong families and the depression they felt from being bullied made them murderers.

Also, 30% of all child suicides occur due to bullying.
A disturbing amount of children that have had so much abuse inflicted on them, that are isolated, depressed and have nobody to turn to, so they choose to end their lives.
On January 14th a sixteen year old Irish girl, Phoebe Prince, that had moved to Massachusetts ended her life after months of being bullied and abused in school. This brought international attention to the problem of Bullying in the US and in schools all over the world. After a trial in 2011 six teens were prosecuted for charges such as statuary rape and civil rights violations.

This needs to stop.
No number of anti-bullying seminars and posters can stop a bully. People need to talk. If you are being bullied, or suspect a classmate/colleague/friend are suffering from abuse talk to them. They most likely need a friend to confide in during this hard time, take it from me, I've been there before. If you're still in school, or have a job, report bullying to a teacher, parent, supervisor or even the police if things are really serious! The best way to prevent bullying is by spreading awareness.
Nobody should have to live in fear.

The Artwork of Pio Valentino

I'm all for spreading the news about incredible new artists, especially Irish ones and especially when it's my talented cousin!
Unlike me, a person born with no major talents or skills, my cousin was born with loads!
Not only is he a lovely person but he can also sing like Bocelli and he's amazing at art!
So I've gotten him to mail me all of his sketches so that I can show them off to you guys...
All of the other art heads out there will surely appreciate this too!
His work is beautiful portraying perfectly the full, womanly, super-heroine like  figure with a touch of eroticism
he also goes into great detail, from the strands of their hair to their eyelashes to the detailed embellishments on  their garments..
and these are just quick sketches he does in his spare time when he's bored...
So have a look...

How amazing would he be as a fashion designer? I'm always trying to convince him to do a course!
My favorite is the third one down I just think it's beautiful and passion filled!
What do you ladies think of his work?

By the way he's a strapping young fellar of 22 years and happens to be single so If you're up for a hot date be super nice to me and I'll get you in there!
lol that's a joke... I am not pimping my cousin out! I swear!

He's also in a band who are absolutely brilliant, their influences are the Overtones and Bruno Mars and although I'm quite the 'Chart Music snob' myself I have to say that each one of them are amazingly talented and together they make a pretty epic band... they're called On The Edge.. here's a sneaky video of them just to show you ladies what they're like...

If you like them you can see their facebook page here!
Make sure to like it and subscribe to them on Youtube...
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and have a happy new year!

The pursuit of Tux-iness...

I live in Blazers as I find they have the ability to make any outfit look super smart, weather I'm heading out clubbing in a skimpy dress or going shopping in jeans and Uggs I always throw on a plain black blazer.
So it probably comes as no surprise that I've always loved the look of women in Tuxedo's..
It's a sexy, modest and elegant look not to mention super classy.
The problem is a lot of people are too shy or just don't know how to go about putting one together.
So I've had a browse on the web and in some of my favorite shops and put together six tuxedo-esque outfits to give you ladies some idea's.

1

Pulling off the classic black and white tuxedo look is really easy! This white shirt from River Island already has a brooch detail on the collar which makes it perfect!
I'd pair it with these black high waist jeans from Boohoo.com as I love anything high waisted.. especially for ladies with a little bit of weight around the tummy area as they help to hide it.
A simple black blazer like this one from ASOS is perfect, you can find one anywhere and they really do smarten up any outfit! To top it off I'd add some super cool closed shoes, I absolutely love the chunky heel look so I've chosen these babies from Office.

If you want to change it up a bit and add a little more brightness you could switch and do the whole white blazer, black shirt thing instead.
This is the outfit I wanted for Christmas, unfortunately some of the stuff was sold out but I ended up putting together something similar in the end. The Black see-through shirt is from Topshop.. It's great because you can wear anything under it and it goes with everything in my wardrobe! Everyone should have a shirt like this. Instead of going for plain black leggings I opted for a bit of texture, these leggings from Topshop are still quite plain but they have a leather stripe down each side of the leg to add a little edge.
I've been in love with this white blazer for weeks now and I planned this whole outfit around it. I just think it's a great change from my black one. it's from River Island, unfortunately it was sold out today so I picked up a plain white one from Topshop instead.
I got this white, lace detailed Bow Tie on Asos, I always like to have a cute accessory to pull the outfit together and this was ideal to complete the tux look!
Recognize the shoes? They're the Jeffrey Campbell boots available in Office. I spotted them on the website and asked my mam to pick them up for me today.. unfortunately they're sold out in my local Office and according to the sales woman 'Everyone is going mad for them!' I guess I'll just have to wait until after Christmas when I've been paid and then go on a huge internet hunt for them!

This ones for the Brave... Tweed!
You gotta love it!
Nothing better than some old man chic in your wardrobe!
I once again based the outfit around the Blazer. This brown tweed one is from Asos and I absolutely love it.. Only con is it's a little bit on the expensive side but heck if I had the money I'd own it right now!
I'd pair it with this cream colored blouse from River Island. The ruffles around the collar would look great under the Blazer and no Bow ties or accessories would be needed.
Then of course the Chino's.. I absolutely love them but don't think they'll be around for long so I really need to get my hands on some pronto! These brown ones are from River Island.. The color is a little off and I would have preferred it a tad bit lighter to go with the outfit.
Lastly I'd pop on these burgundy colored stiletto's from Office, just for a bit of pop. I absolutely love dark red, wine and burgundy colors with brown, I think they work really well together especially for that wintery look around the Christmas party season!

If your more into the casual look you can still add a hint of tuxiness..
These red and white Aztec leggings from River Island would look super funky for this look!
Replace the Blazer with a comfy, wooly jumper like this red one from Boohoo.com to give it a more cozy feel, add a plain white or cream sleeveless shirt like this one from Topshop and finish the looks off with a pair of black, flat boots like these adorable ones from River Island..
I dono about you ladies but I love this outfit! You could also add a bow tie, I couldn't find the right colored one online so I just left it out.

5

I've blogged a few times now about how much I love animal print, especially snakeskin because it seems to be a timeless trend.
I was Immediately drawn to this snakeskin Blazer on Boohoo.com
I'd pair it with a plain cream blouse like the one above from Topshop, some plain black leggings or skinny jeans, (Which we all already have in our wardrobes, and if not we can find them anywhere!) and these skyscraper, pointed nude shoes from Korky's..
I've probably mentioned these shoes before, i have them, they were only fourty quid and they've rapidly become my favorite shoes as they're super high, so I feel like a giant/well fed model when I wear them, and they go with pretty much everything!

6

I'm also a fan of this Blazer as it reminds me of a ring-master.
It's also red so it's quite appropriate for Christmas. I found it on Asos..
I'd pair it with a black blouse such as this one from Topshop, I like the fact that your boob area is covered so you can get away with wearing nothing under it.. raarrrr! lol
Again with the high waist, I thought I'd change it up and opt for shorts instead of jeans or leggings.
I desperately searched the internet for a pair of red creepers to go with this outfit.. although I love them I still don't have the guts to wear them so I chose these black, lace up stiletto's from Office instead. I'd pop on some black nylon tights with this, you could even get away with Suspender tights because the outfit is nice and simple.

I hope you ladies like this post and find it useful. I'll keep you updated and put up pics of my Christmas outfit after the holidays. Once again I've to apologize for not blogging daily which I usually do. As if Christmas isn't busy enough I've been working long hours every day and now I have the flu right on time for Santa's visit :(...
and get this.. I'm in work tomorrow (Christmas Eve) AND Boxing day! Wahhhh :(

I'd like to say a big thank you to my mam, who went into town to get my Christmas clothes for me today.. I was off work but dying of the flu so I printed out pictures of everything I wanted and sent her on her way, and she got it more than right! She's a true legend! Love you mammy <3
